On Thursday, Netflix announced via Twitter that the service has made three South Korean feature films directed by Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk available to stream in the United States. This announcement comes in the wake of Squid Game becoming the most popular original series on Netflix, following the debut of its first season back in September.

These films include the 2011 crime drama Silenced starring Gong Yoo, who appears in Squid Game; the 2014 comedy-drama Miss Granny starring Na Moon-hee and Shim Eun-kyung; and the 2017 historical drama The Fortress starring Kim Yoon-seok and Lee Byung-hun, the latter of whom also appears in Squid Game as the masked “Front Man” leading the games.

Based on real events, Silenced follows Kang In-ho (Gong Yoo), a newly hired art teacher at a school for hearing-impaired children who uncovers a devastating conspiracy of sexual assaults among the school’s faculty. Miss Granny centers on the story of Oh Mal-soon (Na Moon-hee), a foul-mouthed 74-year-old widow who miraculously regains her 20-year-old appearance. Set in 1636, 2017’s The Fortress stars Lee Byung-hun as Choi Myung-kil, a retainer of the King Injo (Park Hae-il) of the Joseon Kingdom who clashes with his counterpart Kim Sang-hun (Kim Yoon-seok) as whether to surrender to the advancing Qing forces or fight back their invasion. In addition to directing, Hwang Dong-hyuk has a writing credit on all three films.

Squid Game is one of several Korean shows and features, including Bong Joon-ho’s Oscar-winning black comedy thriller Parasite and Park Chan-wook’s erotic psychological thriller The Handmaiden, to enjoy effusive commercial and critical success in the US in recent years. The series has not yet been officially renewed for a second season by Netflix, and Hwang Dong-hyuk expressed in an interview with Variety that he may return to directing features before returning to Squid Game and that he had not yet developed any ideas for season two.
